It was a good day for a ride around the county as PAWS held its annual Fun Ride fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Registered riders were invited to take a trip to ten different spots around the area, collecting punches along the way. The route featured check-in points at in-town businesses like Salinas’ and Cedar Ridge Golf Course all the way out to Fossil & Prairie Park or TJ’s Bar and Grill in Greene. New to this year were stops at Ginger’s Top Shelf in Floyd and the PAWS adoption center itself, which was open to introduce its current lineup of good dogs and cute kitties in need of a home.
The ride ended at Derailed, where people who had visited at least six spots were eligible for a grand prize package. The shelter had a selection of other fundraising activities as well, including a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.
Riders came back in the evening to see who the big winners were and enjoy food and live music as Derailed put on its 3rd Annual Tractor Show and 4th Annual Hawaiian Night.
“Derailed is really great to work with,” said PAWS assistant manager Jacie Peichel.
Funds raised for the event support the continuing care of animals at the shelter. With an influx of cats and dogs coming in, the shelter is considering hosting an adoption event in October for families looking to bring in a new pet.
