Snack time got a little fancier on Thursday, Sept. 26, as the NIACC Charles City Center hosted a charcuterie class as part of its community education program.
Instructed by Jayne “Grma Jayne” Stowe, the class showed participants how to organize and decorate serving boards with meats, cheeses, fruits, and other snacks.
“It’s a fun thing to do with a good friend or a relative,” said Stowe. “It’s something to get everybody together.”
The registration fee for the class included food and supplies, allowing the group of 10 participants to go home with a tray of snacks along with their newfound knowledge.
“Everybody enjoyed themselves,” said Community Education Programmer Wendi Coen-Ward.
Another class has been scheduled for April, but in the meantime the community education program will keep busy with a variety of learning opportunities including bus trips, yoga instruction, babysitting classes, and holiday programming.
For those looking for something sweeter, Stowe will be hosting a dessert night at the Pub on the Cedar on Thursday, Oct. 10.
