The Marble Rock Historical Society invited folks out for a community soup supper on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Serving up chicken & wild rice, cheesy potato, beef & barley and taco soups along with freshly made bread and a variety of baked desserts, there was plenty to pick from at the dinner, set up at the former St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
“We’re just trying to bring some life into the community,” said Historical Society member Clayton Black.
The group plans to host a soup supper once a month over the fall and winter, with the next one on Nov. 12.
In December, instead of soup the group will host its annual Christmas by the Cabin event, scheduled for Dec. 7.
Funds raised at the freewill donation dinner go to support the group’s continuing projects, which includes a new acquisition of a country school house that will be brought into town.
“It’s going to be quite a lot of work, but we’re used to it,” said Historical Society President Diane Black.
