Get Messy crafts spooky dolls

Get Messy got crafty on Tuesday as kids came out to the Charles City Public Library to make pipe cleaner voodoo dolls.
Originally the library was going to have the kids make “Frankentoys,” cutting up and re-assembling toys to make their own creatures, but decided to pivot.
“We had a different plan, but thought that the stuffed animals were too cute and that kids wouldn’t cut them up,” said children’s librarian Stacey Leerhoff.
Instead, the Halloween-themed event had the kids twisting pipe cleaners into shapes and decorating them with ribbon, yarn, pom poms, and googly eyes to make dolls of a different kind.
Next week for the program will be a special event as the library will team up with PAWS to make cat toys for the shelter’s new kittens.
