The Marble Rock Historical Society once again invited the community out for dinner for the second soup supper and bake sale of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Serving up vegetable chicken wild rice soup, vegetable beef soup, cheeseburger soup, and kluski noodle soup along with garlic bread and a variety of baked goods, the dinner serves as both a fundraiser for the Historical Society and a community unifying event.
The historical society is also in the process of restoring a recently purchased historical one-room school house.
Located north of Greene, the building has survived the decades by being converted into grain storage. The historical society has been cleaning the building out and preparing for it to be restored and moved next spring.
“My great aunt actually taught there in 1910,” said Diane Black, president of the Historical Society.
In the meantime, the society is getting ready for its upcoming Christmas in the Cabin event on Saturday, Dec. 7, which will feature hot drinks, caroling, Christmas stories and hay rides to celebrate the holiday.
