City Hall is on the move.

In anticipation of the City Hall/Police Department Renovation Project, city staff spent Thursday setting up their new temporary offices at 507 Clark St.

“We’re getting there. It’s been a pretty big day,” said City Clerk Trudy O’Donnell.

Moving in and setting up Thursday and Friday, the city plans to be officially open to the public on Monday at the new location.

In the meantime, staff have been busy unpacking and getting used to their new space.

“I don’t know what to do with all that natural light,” said City Administrator Steve Diers.

The city anticipates being at the temporary location for 16-18 months while City Hall is renovated. During that time, city meetings will primarily be held in the Charles City Public Library’s Zastrow Room while the Police Department, Code Enforcement and Parks and Rec offices will be located at 623 Beck Street.
