The New Year celebration happened a little early at the Charles City Public Library.

Families filled the Zastrow room on Tuesday, Dec. 31, as 96 people celebrated the “Noon Year.”

“It was wild and crazy,” said Children’s Librarian Stacey Leerhoff.

After a late morning of decorating cookies, making party hats and playing bingo, the kids lined up to watch the clock strike 12 p.m.

Though the event marked the end of 2024 at the library, there are plenty of kids activities planned for 2025.

The Get Messy program starts up again on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and Bluey will feature at the Cabin Fever event on Saturday, Feb. 1.

The library saw a lot of participation for its children’s programming in 2024 and Leerhoff said she is excited to continue offering activities in 2025.

“I appreciate the community for supporting the programs and sharing their kids with me,” said Leerhoff.
