The Charles City Public Library was hopping on Tuesday as the Zastrow Room was packed with kids enjoying Easter-themed activities.
More than 40 kids participated in a trio of activities, beginning with a coloring session as kids decorated their own wooden egg ornaments with holiday colors.
Afterwards, kids lined up for a sugary crafting session, making a skateboarding Peep bunny out of cookies, frosting and gummy wheels.
“It was great,” said Children’s Librarian Stacey Leerhoff. “You have to have food because kids love candy.”
Finally, for the big event, the kids scrambled around the library’s stacks searching for candy-filled eggs during the library’s egg hunt. Though there were more kids than anticipated, everybody got to find a half-dozen eggs filled with sweet surprises.
“The hunt is fun,” said Leerhoff. “I love to hide them.”
