Nashville came to Charles City last week as the Charles Theatre welcomed country singer Kaylyn Sahs for a live concert on Thursday, May 1.
“It’s such an honor to be here in Charles City,” said Sahs.
Sahs has been touring the Midwest to promote the radio debut of her single, “Wine About It,” and was contacted by the theater board about putting on a live show with just a couple weeks of planning.
Ahead of the concert, Sahs spent some time touring downtown, stopping to check out some of the Main Street businesses and enjoy the local food options.
“I got to explore Charles City,” said Sahs. “I love it here and I definitely want to come back.”
The concert itself received a strong turnout as the community came out to listen to Sahs perform classic country covers along with her own original songs on the theater stage.
“The room is amazing. It sounds so good,” said Sahs. “It was a very special night.”
The concert’s success is an encouraging sign for the theater board and their efforts to diversify the Charles Theatre’s programming with live entertainment.
“Everything was amazing,” said board member Chuck Van Gilder. “The turnout was amazing and she was fantastic.”
Van Gilder has spearheaded the booking of performers for the theater board and has already scheduled two more shows.
Brad Morgan, the Midwest Country Music Organizations 2023 Male Vocalist of the Year, will be performing on Wednesday, June 11.
Following that, Jake Simon has been scheduled to perform on Thursday, July 3, to kick off the Independence Day holiday.
