Sixth-graders at Immaculate Conception Catholic School celebrated their elementary graduation on Friday, May 19.
The IC Class of 2025 gathered at the school for a ceremonial farewell as they prepare to enter the next stage of their education.
Speaking at the ceremony was 2019 IC graduate Payton Hadley, who is now a senior at Charles City High School.
“It’s an honor to be standing here back in the place where it all started for me,” said Hadley. “I know it may feel like you’re finishing a small step, but don’t underestimate how far you’ve come.”
Following student addresses from Bennett Jung, Cooper Mahnesmith, Lydia Freiberg and Vivienne Rafkin, each reciting the principles of the school, the 25 graduating students received their diplomas from Principal Laurie Field and Father Tom Heathershaw before celebrating their advancement into middle school with cupcakes and refreshments.
