The Charles City Middle School presented its spring concert on Thursday, May 15, in the Comet Gym.
Titled “My Life Flows On In Endless Song,” the concert began with director Katelyn Kluver’s fifth and sixth grade classes flowing in with a series of water themed songs.
The fifth graders started the show with “Cripple Creek,” “The Water is Wide,” “Hands Are Knockin’,” and the comedic “There’s a Hole in the Bucket,” which featured spoken solos from Laker Kubik, Nathalia Dean, Isaac Decker, Carver Parker, Alessandra Gomez Arenas, Kaydence Taylor and Sam Soifer.
The sixth graders followed up with classics like “Down By the Riverside,” “Lakeside Lullaby,” “Cantate Domino,” and “Rockin’ Gold.”
Kluver also recognized this year’s Honor Choir students: Isaac Decker, Laker Kubik, Rowan McFarland, Liam Abbott, Elise Johnson, Paisley Nauman, Kelsie Novak and Elizabeth Schradle.
Moving into the seventh and eighth grade classes, director AJ Weber introduced the 7th/8th Grade Advisory Choir, a new program for students who want to use their advisory time for choir.
“We really needed to give these kids an opportunity to sing more,” said Weber.
Weber directed the group though “Canon of Praise” and “Hallelujah,” but handed the reins over to Assistant Director Camryn Hoeft for “Bright Morning Stars.”
A sophomore taking independent study, Hoeft directed the group through the song, featuring solos from Cora Elsbury, Evelyn Williams and Audriana Luckett.
Finally, the full 7th/8th Grade Choir came out to conclude the concert with “Seven Bridges Road,” “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and “I’m Still Standing,” featuring solos from Elliott Linde, Tori Deverell and Jackson Van Soelen.
