Charles City senior citizens had an opportunity to make custom cards at the Charles City Community Center on Tuesday, May 20.
“We do this a couple times a year,” said Becky Meyer, who organizes the program alongside Char Greenzweig. “We show people it’s a fun thing to do and it’s always enjoyed by the recipients.”
Bringing in supplies to craft four greeting cards and a gift bag each, participants learned how to fold and decorate cards to be used for birthdays, graduations, or other occasions.
Along with weekdays lunches followed by card games, the community center keeps a full schedule of programming.
On Thursday, Pastor Drew McHolm and Jesse Boatwright of Nashua’s Little Brown Church stopped for late-morning musical performance. The duo had previously been slated to perform for the community center’s canceled Christmas program last December.
Coming up next week, the community center will have programming on nutrition, mental health and food insecurity along with its regular Tuesday evening public bingo.
