Kids enjoyed outdoor games at the Charles City Public Library last week as the Get Messy program took advantage of the nice weather for an afternoon of croquet for the last session of the season.
While Get Messy goes on hiatus until July, there is still plenty of children’s programming on the calendar.
Starting on Thursday, May 22, the library’s Reading Dragons summer storytime program will begin, kicking off with a story and ice cream event at Dean Treats.
“Each Thursday at 10 we’ll be going to a different place in town,” said Children’s Librarian Stacey Leerhoff.
Today (Friday, May 23) kids freshly out of school for the summer can sign up for the summer reading program. While signup can happen any time, the library will be having games and treats from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m..
On Tuesday, June 3, the library will be starting its Harry Potter Book Club program, which will eventually lead into an interactive movie showing on July 1.
“Anybody can come to that,” said Leerhoff.
June 3 also marks the start of family programming, starting at 6 p.m.
Finally, on July 3, the Get Messy program will start up again for a summer of Tuesday afternoon activities featuring crafts, games as well as educational visits for kids to experience live interactions with animals.
