Party in the Park got off to a good start for its 2025 season as Main Street Charles City put on the first of this summer’s community events on Friday, May 30.

In stark contrast to last year, which was plagued by rainy rescheduling, the night was comfortably mild in Central Park for this year’s inaugural event.

“It’s beautiful weather,” said Community Development Director Mark Wicks. “We’re off to a better start this year.”

Sponsored by Yokohama as the premier partner, the featured entertainment for Friday’s party was Deja Blue, who performed live music through the evening while the community enjoyed food vendors, games, giveaways, and more.

As a special treat, several businesses and organizations brought their biggest vehicles out for a “Touch-A-Truck” showing, giving kids the chance to check out a fire engine, police car, ambulance, lift truck and more.

“There’s a nice variety for people to check out,” said Wicks.

The next party will take place on Friday, June 13, with a street fair theme and music from Rhythmic Rewind.
