Accident location.

A 66-year-old Garner woman was killed Wednesday morning when the motorcycle she was riding was struck by a semi on U.S. Highway 18, the Avenue of the Saints, just northwest of Charles City.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Ruby May Golnik, riding a 2019 Kawasaki motorcycle, “pulled out in front of” a 2019 Freightliner semi driven by a 24-year-old driver from Calendon, Ontario, Canada, “causing a fatal collision.”

The State Patrol updated its accident report Wednesday afternoon to include the names of the drivers. It listed the semi driver as Navneet.

The incident occurred at about 9:10 a.m. at mile marker 211 on eastbound U.S. 18, which is one mile north of the 212 interchange for Gilbert Street from Charles City onto the Avenue of the Saints.

Assisting the Iowa State Patrol at the scene were the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Floyd Fire Department and AMR ambulance service in Charles City.
