It will be “Rock ’n’ Rides” at the next Party in the Park in Charles City.

The summertime series organized by Main Street Charles City continues on Friday, June 27, from 5-9 p.m. in Central Park. In addition to the classic Rock & Roll tunes performed by Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50’s band, there will be horse-and-wagon rides available, as well as inflatable rides.

The rides to the Cedar River then back to the park, going through historic Charles City neighborhoods, will be $5 in tokens per rider.

The inflatable rides will be 1-2 tokens each, with an obstacle course and bounce houses for different ages.

Now in its 22nd season, Party in the Park offers free admission and live music. There will also be food vendors, a beer garden, various activities for kids and opportunities to socialize with friends and neighbors. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50’s performs hits including from Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, Roy Orbison, Eddie Cochran and The Beatles.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the evening using the Party in the Park tokens, which can be obtained at the Token Tent near the center of the park, as well as from Token Browsers walking around in red aprons. The orange tokens are $1 each and good at all Party in the Park events this summer.

Food vendors schedule to participate on the 27th include: A Shred Above, Hy-Vee, Island Grill, Faith Bible Chapel (cotton candy), the Rotary Popcorn Wagon, Ginger’s Top Shelf, Titanium Lunchbox, Toasted Tomato and Dean Treats.

In addition to the wagon rides and inflatables, scheduled activities will include Pedal Cars, interactive games with the Llost Llamas 4-H Club, and sponsor booths. The Charles City Water Department will also have an informational booth on how to keep lead out of your service lines.
