Friends and associates said “farewell” to now former City Administrator Steve Diers during a going-away party on Friday, June 20.

It was the last day for Diers, who has accepted a position as the city administrator for Clear Lake after nearly 12 years working in Charles City.

“It’s been a good time and we’ve got a lot of cool things done,” said Diers. “It’s been a pleasure working with the city.”

Celebrating with a party at Tellurian Brewing, the Charles City Council presented Diers with a plaque recognizing his service over the years.

“He did a lot of things to make things happen that a lot of people maybe don’t know about,” said Mayor Dean Andrews. “Whether it was behind the scenes or in front of the scenes, he was always working on how to make Charles City a better place.”
