Book-lovers across Iowa will be coming through Charles City this summer and into fall.
From July through September, the Iowa Indie Bookshop Tour challenges avid readers to traverse the state, crossing independent book stores off their checklist with each visit to a new location.
Charles City’s Prologue Books and Wine is one of 45 stops on the tour where visitors can get their passport stamped for the event.
“All of us that own bookstores see a lot of people going on day trips,” said Prologue owner Darci Tracey. “It’s a really fun way to promote the state.”
Started by CoriAnn Theroux of the Green Dragon Bookshop in Fort Dodge, this is the second year for the growing event.
Tracey said that last year’s tour was successful in bringing new customers into town and she is eager to participate again, stocking up on Charles City-specific merchandise for the visiting shoppers to go home with.
“I’m excited. It promotes our town very well,” said Tracey. “People stop by, and they want to see something about our town.”
