Building a new Tree

Above, construction work continued Thursday on a Dollar Tree discount store on U.S. 180 East in Silver City. According to Richard Fernandez, project superintendent with JM Stitt Construction, the project is on schedule to be completed by Oct. 8, when they will “turn the keys over to Dollar Tree.” Fernandez said that other than an unexpected hard layer of rock under the soil, everything has gone smoothly. Subcontractors on the project include Southwest Concrete and Paving of Silver City, Construction Builders of America from Lordsburg, Wysong Glass of Bayard, New Mexico Professional Painters of Silver City, Nichols Welding and RS Masonry from Silver City.
