Chapter JQ of PEO shares minutes from Oct. 19 meeting

Chapter JQ of PEO met in the Zastrow Room of the library on Oct. 19 with 28 members present. The committee serving coffee and treats were Marlys Law, Helen Lockwood, Connie Swant and Patti Speas.

Julie Sindlinger presided at the business meeting.

Becky Meyer submitted our recommendation for the Star scholarship to the state office.

Each chapter can apply for one qualifying senior and Emma Sheckler’s name was drawn.

We have been fortunate in the past to have our chapter’s representative receive this honor.

Our member, Malayne Meyer, is representing Iowa State University on a trip to Johannesburg, South Africa next summer. We were honored to help with her expenses, if we desired, by purchasing cards she had designed.

Marlys Law has volunteered to be our representative from JQ to usher at the state convention next spring. Becky Meyer stated it is well organized since she is involved with the regional planning committee.

Bridge will be at 3C Bistro on Oct. 26; book club will be at Connie Swant’s on Nov. 9; our next meeting is at the library on Nov. 2.

For our program, the members signed greeting cards to send out on the holidays.
