LIONS CLUB BOOK SALE
Boxes of books come, leave with literacy patrons
Looking into the Otto’s Oasis parking lot around 3:30 p.m., you might have thought the business had turned into an Apple store and the latest iPhone was about to be released.
But that was not the case.
On Tuesday, about 50 excited book-sale goers were lined up outside the Otto’s Oasis greenhouse for the annual Lions’ Club Book Sale.
As they flooded into the greenhouse, they were met with palates of books — anywhere from 3,000 to 4,000 at any given time. Bob Wooln, who has been helping the Lions Club run the show for years, said it’s been a great way to give back to the community.
“We raise about $4,000 and it all goes back to the community,” Wooln said. “The more we make here, the more we can give back.”
In an age where everything is becoming digitalized or is already digital, people from all age groups could be found scavaging through the sections.
Laid out in three large rows, about six or seven palates deep, rested memoirs, novel, bibles, sports reads, religious books, fiction, non-fiction and more.
The sale will be going today and tomorrow, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.
