Old Time Country Music Jamboree continues to delight

On Thursday, Oct. 22, 75 followers of the Old Time Country Music returned to the Charles City Senior Center to listen to over two hours of good old country music. Some of the musicians were in costume as Willie Nelson, Katie Wells and cowboys. There were a few in the audience that also were in costume and Minnie Mouse was adorable.

The session started with the birthday song for those in the audience. There were a variety of songs played. There was “Gimmee That Old Time Religion”, “Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain”, “Momma Tried”, “Drinking Champagne”, “Do What You Do, Do Well” and many, many more. John Neuzil played and sang “On the Road Again”, and Jack Tynan, Dick Knight, and Mike McDaniel harmonized with him. These were just a few songs that were played that night.

The session ended with the audience standing and singing “God Bless America”.

The next Jamboree will be on Nov. 12 and that will be the only one held in November because of Thanksgiving. The doors are open by 6 p.m., so why not come and enjoy over two hours of good music? You can always request songs and even sing for the audience. Admission is free and we appreciate the freewill donations which goes to the Senior Center to help pay their expenses.

Remember, there is only one session next month and that is on Nov. 12. Hope to see you there.
