Rosalyn’s Interiors
When it comes to home decorating, Rosalyn Miller of Rosalyn’s Custom Interiors is a proverbial “onewoman band.”
“I have handled all aspects of the business, from showing samples to making drapes, valances, sheers and pillows; and from installation to repairing blinds,” said Miller.
After learning the ropes while working for Sylvia Meyers for seven years, Miller went into business for herself in March 1984. Through Rosalyn’s Custom Interiors, she specializes in custom window treatments — such as blinds, drapes, valances, sheers, etc. — as well as bedspreads and pillows.
“I have a wide range of quality products to choose from that fit your wants and needs,” she said. “I come to your home with the samples, so that you can see them in your own setting and lighting. There’s no need to drag paint chips, carpet scraps, furniture cushions or anything else into a store. My customers have busy schedules and it makes it a lot easier. They don’t have to travel to me. They can look at window treatments while they still have a load of clothes in the washer.”
Not sure what you want or what might work best with your decor? No problem! Miller will be more than happy to offer ideas, give the pros and cons for the different options available to you, and do it without any sales pressure.
“I attend seminars in order to keep up with the latest trends,” remarked Miller. “That way, I can continue to provide you with the newest products and information on home interior decorating available.”
According to Miller, some of the most popular trends right now are toward Roman Shades, Woven Woods, Wood Horizontal blinds and shutters, as well as Solar Shades — side panels on a wood decorative pole rod. She added that brown, blue, green, gold, rusty red, black, gray and upcoming brighter shades of orange, yellow, teal are popular colors in decorating. Since Miller handles everything herself (husband Mel helps out during winter with some of the larger orders), customers don’t have to worry about what they want getting lost in translation between several different people. Customers have the convenience and comfort of only having to deal with one person throughout the entire process.
“Friendly service done well, that’s my goal,” said Miller. “If you have problems, just call me and I’ll take care of it.”
For Miller, getting to know her customers is the best part of her job.
“It’s enjoyable because I get to meet such neat people,” she said. “When I leave their home, it’s like I’ve made a new friend.”
