Animal Hospital celebrates anniversary

To the Press

The Chamber Ambassadors recently visited the Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital at 902 South Grand Ave. to help commemorate the business’ fifth anniversary in Charles City.

Dr. Phyllis Frost opened the practice in 2010 after starting a veterinary clinic in Waverly 20 years ago and then a satellite office in Nashua which she closed when the Charles City opportunity arose. Her daughter, Dr. Jami Mallen, joined the practice in May 2014, and works mainly at the Waverly office while Frost is in Charles City four days a week. The two switch at least one day a week. In addition, they employ two technicians (similar to a registered nurse for animals) in Charles City, as well as two kennel care assistants.

The practice focuses on small animal care, doing a lot of orthopedic work and surgical procedures, which Frost specializes in. Mallen, meanwhile, is more of an internal medicine specialist.

“It’s been a rewarding experience being here,” said Frost of Charles City.

The Charles City practice is open Monday through Friday, with the exception of Tuesday afternoons, as well Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, stop in at the Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital at 902 South Grand Ave. or call (641) 228-2211.
