First Security employees complete commercial lending school

Tommy Stice, Ryan Jaehrling, Robert Lines, and Eric Miller successfully completed the 2015 Iowa Bankers Association’s Introduction to Commercial Lending School held Oct. 12-14 in Ankeny.

The school is an intense three-day program sponsored by the Iowa Bankers Association. The purpose of the IBA Introduction to Commercial Lending School is to give students a basic understanding of the principles and concepts of commercial lending. The curriculum for the school involves an extensive case study, as well as classroom lecture and problem loan exercises.

Tommy Stice, Ag/ Commercial Credit Analyst, has 10 years of banking experience and has been with First Security since 2010.

Stice works at the Charles City location and provides financial analysis for Ag/Commercial customers and support to loan and board committees to aid in credit decisions. He has a Microcomputer Specialist and Accounting Diplomas from Lanier Technical College as well as an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies from NTBI.

He, his wife, and his son reside in Marble Rock.

Ryan Jaehrling has worked at First Security since the fall of 2013. He worked in the Human Resources and Marketing departments before his promotion to Credit Analyst which later helped him transition into his current role as Assistant Vice President, Ag/Commercial Lender. Jaehrling attended Iowa State University where he received a BA in Political Science and Economics as well as a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

Robert Lines has worked with First Security for 5 ½ years. He started in the IT department before moving into the Ag/Commercial Lending department where he worked as a Loan Administrative Specialist for two years before his recent promotion to Ag/ Commercial Lender. He is a graduate of Charles City High School, has an AA degree from NIACC, and a Bachelor’s degree in both Finance and Real Estate from the University of Northern Iowa. Lines has also farmed and raised cattle outside of Charles City throughout his life.

Miller recently joined First Security as Assistant Vice President, Ag/Commercial Lender.

He joined First Security with 7 years of banking experience.

He is a graduate of Charles City High School and the University of Iowa where he obtained an Interdepartmental Studies Degree and a certificate in Entrepreneurship. He, his wife, and daughter live in Charles City.
