Senior Center Christmas Party scheduled Dec. 5

Doc Anderson of Nevada, Iowa, will perform at the Charles City Senior Center at its annual Christmas Party, which begins at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 5.

Anderson will be giving a light hearted 30-minute comedy program that’s filled with humor, interactive stories, and some nostalgia about Doc’s experiences growing up among carnies, hucksters, and pitchmen. There’s even some magic tricks and lots of audience involvement.

Christmas carols will be sung and all members will be asked to bring treats to share with the group.

The Senior Center board will be making sandwiches and will provide coffee and Christmas cider.

Those wishing to join the Senior Citizens should take their membership dollars to Kenny Elliott or Noriene North, Monday through Friday from 9-11 a.m., or send to: Senior Citizens, 900 Hulin St., CC attention membership.

Music in the

Library event planned for Nov. 25

The Charles City Chamber Orchestra string quartet will present a free performance in the Charles City Public Library on Nov. 25 from 4-5 p.m. Start your holidays off with a free performance from the CCCCO quartet and refreshments in the lobby.

Malven to do book signing at Charles City Library

On Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Charles City Public Library, Charles City Middle School teacher Tim Malven will be signing copies of his newly published children’s book, “The Christmas that Almost Wasn’t.”

In honor of this achievement, the Charles City Library will host Tim for a reading and book signing. The library will also give away a copy of the book to the first 10 attendees.

Group meets to support Alzheimer’s caregivers

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Caregiver Support Groups will meet at 4 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month in the Fireside Room at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City. The support group is designed to provide emotional, educational and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings. They help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems. The groups encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical, and emotional health, as well as optimally care for the person with dementia.

Osage Women’s Connection Dinner Party Dec. 8

The Osage Women’s Connection Dinner Party on Dec 8 begins at 6:15 p.m. at VFW 3693 Hwy 218 Osage Ia The special feature will be presented by Adrene Phillips on Kwanzaa, a traditional African celebration.

The speaker will be Suzanne Berg of Mound, Minn, on her journey from the party scene and a mental breakdown to her ultimante joyful destination.

Christmas sing-along music will be Raymond Berg.

The meal will include scalloped potatoes and ham, plus dessert.
