LOCAL NOTES Malven to do book signing at Library

On Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Charles City Public Library, Charles City Middle School teacher Tim Malven will be signing copies of his newly published children’s book, “The Christmas that Almost Wasn’t.”

In honor of this achievement, the Charles City Library will host Tim for a reading and book signing. The library will also give away a copy of the book to the first 10 attendees.

Christmas Party planned for Dec. 5

Doc Anderson of Nevada, Iowa, will perform at the Charles City Senior Center at its annual Christmas Party, which begins at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 5. Anderson will be giving a light hearted 30-minute comedy program. There’s even some magic tricks and lots of audience involvement.

Christmas carols will be sung and all members will be asked to bring treats to share with the group. The Senior Center board will be making sandwiches and will provide coffee and Christmas cider.
