CLUB NOTES

Women’s Fellowship of the Congregational Church

Women’s Fellowship of the Congregational church met on Dec. 3 and were greeted with festive tables and refreshments made by hostesses Martha Merry and Donna Paine.

The meeting began enthusiastically with 28 children and their helpers from the Learning Center singing lively songs. They were bedecked in reindeer hats and had bells to ring. It helped us start the Advent season in great spirits.

Donna Masmar presented devotions, reminding us of the hustle and bustle of the holidays and the seasonal catalogues that arrive every day. They should not distract us from the real Christmas story and its meaning in our lives. After seeing the glowing faces of all the three- and five-year-olds, bookmarks were handed out reminding us to give us the spirit of a child in our everyday lives.

A business meeting followed with Nola Johnson presiding. Cards were addressed to Comprehensive System residents. Flowers will be delivered to the homebound. The cookie walk is this Saturday on Dec. 5; Betty Magee and Sandy Backer will prepare a meal for the Northeast Iowa Assn. on Dec. 10. There will be a variety of musical numbers presented for the community on Dec. 13. at 3 p.m. with refreshments to follow.
