LOCAL NOTES Bingo Night planned at Senior Center

There will be a special meal and party at the Senior Citizens Bingo Night at the Senior Center, Tuesday, Dec. 8. The meal will consist of two soups, a salad and Christmas cookies will be available to purchase at $3.75. Food will be ready to be served at 5:30 p.m., Early Birds at 6:30, and regular Bingo at 7 p..m. The Jackpot is $500 as usual. Everyone is welcome!

Holiday parade to light up tonight

Community Revitalization in Charles City is set to light up the night on Friday, Dec. 4, and fill the hearts of young and old alike with holiday wonder during the annual Holiday Lighted Parade downtown at 6 p.m.

The route the parade will follow will be north on North Jackson Street to Ferguson, then east to Main Street and south on Main to Riverside Drive, then back up North Jackson Street to Blunt. The public is encouraged to come out and support the entries, enjoy some hot chocolate courtesy of the Charles City Kiwanis Club, and stop in to warm up and look around at the merchants who stay open later that night.

The Holiday Lighted Parade also serves as the arrival of Santa Claus to town and the opening of the Santa House in Central Park. Santa will be available to talk with children immediately following the parade.

Can drive for Amanda Bearman set for Saturday

The Bradford Eager Beaver 4-H Club is hosting a pop can drive for Amanda Bearman on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nashua-Plainfield football parking lot. Drive up/drop off cans and bottles. Please separate glass.

Amanda has been battling cancer for about a year and was a 4-H leader with her husband Jim.
