Authorities investigating discovery of body in Cedar River

GILBERTVILLE, (AP) — Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body in the Cedar River near Gilbertville.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports a trapper found the body Sunday morning while checking traps, just northwest of Gilbertville.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office and Waterloo police are joining in the investigation.

Authorities wouldn’t disclose the gender of the body and say it’s not clear when the person died.

An autopsy is planned Tuesday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny.
