On her first attempt, Charles City sophomore Sofia Calpito broke her own school record in the girls long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 9 1/2 inches at Thursday’s Class 3A State-Qualifier at Decorah. Calpito placed second in both the LJ and girls 100-meter hurdles while earning automatic berths for next week’s State Track and Field Championships.
