John Deere recognizes MTE as a ‘Partner-level Supplier’

Designation is the agricultural equipment manufacturer’s highest

Charles City-based Machine Tool Engineering, Inc. has earned recognition as a Partner-level supplier for 2016 in the John Deere Achieving Excellence Program.

The Partner-level status is Deere & Company’s highest supplier rating.

Machine Tool Engineering, Inc. was selected for the honor in recognition of its dedication to providing products and service of outstanding quality as well as its commitment to continuous improvement, according to a news release from MTE.

MTE employees will accept the recognition during a formal ceremony on Jan. 11, 2017.

MTE is a supplier of precision CNC (computerized numerical control) machined components to John Deere’s Ag and Turf Division.

Suppliers who participate in the Achieving Excellence program are evaluated annually in several key performance categories, including quality, cost management, delivery, technical support and wavelength, which is a measure of responsiveness. John Deere Supply Management created the program in 1991 to provide a supplier evaluation and feedback process that promotes continuous improvement.

In addition to this current recognition, Machine Tool Engineering, Inc. also completed the transition from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 in October of this year.  At the time of certification, this placed them in the top 5 percent in the nation of ISO certified companies to successfully complete this transition.

About MTE

According to MTE’s website, the company has been at 2916 Hwy. 18, Charles City since 1976. Sarah and Kurt George purchased it in 1989 when the shop equipment consisted of an engine lathe and two Bridgeport mills. It primarily focused on repair and maintenance for local industries.

Over the years, MTE company expanced with four additions to the original building now making the total facility size of 40,000 square feet. Housed in this facility are more than 35 CNC machines and a full line of support equipment. MTE is now servicing customers from all over the United States in a variety of markets.
