Citizens of Charles City have caught cabin fever during Jan. 27 to 29.

The Charles City Chamber of Commerce organized Cabin Fever Weekend where citizens of Charles City were able to visit pets, play games, go swimming, and learn to cross country sky all during one cold midwest weekend.

There’s no excuse to stay home and be bored,” Kim Jones, Charles City Library director said.

The Library hosted for people of all ages to come in and play word games like Scrabble. There was story telling for children.

“We had a very informally fun day,” Jones said. “I love it, it’s a great a time for community.”

During the event Jones had embroidered during her spare time. Once the kids saw what she was doing they ended up helping her along.

The pets are worth saving Humane Society or PAWS also hosted an open house for anyone to come and see kittens, cats, and dogs.

“Somebody brought donations in for them (dogs),” Julie Taylor, PAWS director said.

Over 30 people came to Wildwood Park for skiing and snowshoeing. Crawbaddy Outdoors supplied equipment for people to use on Saturday Jan. 29.

The YMCA hosted several activities including an aquatic Zumba, taught by Jennifer Bauer. 10 women were involved and worked in the YMCA pool.

The final even was a Cabin Fever sign painting workshop at the Pub on the Cedar. Jennifer the Artsy Dabbler, showed twenty people how to paint artistic signs on Sunday Jan. 29.
