Veterans honored with Quilts of Valor

COLWELL — Six veterans were honored Sunday, April 2, by receiving hand-made quilts from the Quilts of Valor program.

Sandy Thorson, state coordinator, Eastern Iowa, for the Quilts of Valor Foundation, along with her husband, Nate, of Cresco, made the presentation at the Colwell Community Center.

Quilts were presented to Eugene Irwin of Redfield, Arvin Juhl of Estherville, Leon Isakson of Charles City, Melvin Lambert of Rockford, Seth Van Gelder of Waterloo, and to Roberta Kerber of Ankeny who accepted in honor of her father, Robert Stolz, who died in 1972.
