Charles City police and fire departments responded to a call Wednesday afternoon of a disabled vehicle smoking on the southbound lane of Main Street bridge.

Firefighters received a call at 3:45 p.m. and found what appeared to be an oil leak causing smoke in the vehicle, Chief Eric Whipple said. The vehicle was not on fire at any point.

Traffic was briefly blocked as police, firefighters and the driver rolled the vehicle off the bridge and onto a side street, but the bridge is open as normal at this time. — Press report by Kate Hayden
