The Charles City Rotary Club donated $1,000 Monday to the Charles City FFA to help the organization purchase a tree auger that is mounted on the FFA’s tractor.

The FFA has partnered with the Rotary Club and with other groups to plant trees, including helping with a major Rotary Club project that planted more than 60 trees in Charles City last fall and will plant another 60 or more on May 16.

Chris Garden, chairman of the Rotary Club’s service project committee and who is heading up the tree-planting project, said the FFA will also build brackets and print signs that will be placed with the trees to identify the species and provide other information.

The signs will link to a website with more information that the FFA is also creating.

The Charles City Lion’s Club is also donating to the FFA toward the tree auger purchase.
