CCHS Jazz Band performs ‘Jazz in the Park’

A good crowd took advantage of the warm spring weather Saturday evening and gathered at Central Park in Charles City to enjoy some jazz music, courtesy of the Charles City High School Jazz Band.

The time and place of the annual high school spring jazz concert, called “Jazz in the Park,”  had been switched more than once in the days leading up to the show, but the weather was cooperative on Saturday evening — with the possible exception of a perpetual breeze.

Director Jacob Gassman said, “This was originally supposed to be ‘Jazz by the River,’ but it would have been ‘Jazz in the River’ if we’d have tried to play there tonight.” (Press photos by James Grob.)
