To The Press

Charles City-area residents will have an opportunity to provide comments and suggestions to three state departments at an upcoming “community conversation.”

Representatives of the three divisions of the department — the Iowa Arts Council, the State Historical Society of Iowa and Produce Iowa (the office of film and media production) — will discuss their efforts to “make Iowa a more culturally vibrant place to live, work and play,” according to a news release from the department.

The conversations will be held in five communities in addition to Charles City. They will be in Burlington and Washington on July 12, in Malvern on July 24, and in Storm Lake and Perry on July 26.

Each meeting will last about 1½  to 2 hours. They are open to the public, but online RSVPs are encouraged by clicking HERE.

“The ideas that emerge during these discussions will inform the department’s 2019-2021 strategic plan,” the Department of Cultural Affairs said.

Topics will include what’s important in the community and in the state relating to arts, culture and history; as well as funding.
