Open house at middle school Tuesday

The Charles City Community School District will kick off the school year with an open house on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Charles City Middle School from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Any students or family in the community who would like to visit are welcome.

The open house is also an opportunity for 5th-8th-grade families to meet their teachers and get familiar with the building. Locker assignments and combinations will also be available. Students may bring school supplies, walk the building and learn where everything is, get a printed copy of schedules, meet teachers and ask them questions and get lunch tickets and bus passes.

There will be Chromebook roll-out procedure instructions for 5th, 6th and 7th-grade students. A video will begin every 10 minutes for students and parents to watch together. Each family can watch the video in their own grade level learning studio. After completion of the video, parents and students will sign required technology forms. Students entering eighth grade will watch the video on the first day of school and received Chromebooks at that time.

The Charles City Middle School athletic meeting for parents and students will be Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. The meeting will start in Comet Gym and then teams will disperse to different areas. Students interested in participating in fall sports should attend with one parent/guardian.
