Short meeting sets courthouse utilities easement public hearing

By Bob Steenson, bsteenson@charlescitypress.com

It may not have been the shortest Board of Supervisors meeting ever, but at 2 minutes it’s probably close.

The board met in a brief special meeting Tuesday afternoon to set a time and date for a public hearing on utility easements regarding the relocation of utilities to make way for the new law enforcement center project.

Supervisors expressed frustration with the pace of the project at their workshop meeting Monday morning, and Tuesday’s special meeting was a step to speed things along. Once the utilities are relocated the major dirt work necessary for the project will be possible.

The hearing will be at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, as part of a regular Board of Supervisors meeting in the board room on the second floor of the courthouse.

Utility lines that need to be relocated are from CenturyLink Inc., MidAmerican Energy Co., Wisconsin Independent Network LLC (WIN) and United Private Networks LLC (UPN).
