A Charles City woman has been accused of setting another person’s car on fire and charged with arson.

Wena Monique James, age 38, allegedly started a 2009 Chevy Traverse SUV on fire on Nov. 4 “with the intent to damage or destroy the vehicle,” according to records filed in Floyd County District Court.

She was charged with second-degree arson, a Class C felony, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was arrested on Nov. 9 in the 900 block of Kelly Street in Charles City.

James was released on a pretrial release program under the supervision of the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.

The Floyd County Attorney’s Office filed a motion last Thursday for the court to issue a no-contact order between James and the alleged victim, “persons residing with the victim or the victim’s immediate family.”
