An Elma man has been charged with sexual abuse of a young girl while he was living in Charles City.
Randy Lee Nibaur, age 61, was charged with sexual abuse in the second degree, a B Felony, for allegedly having sexual contact several times with a girl that he was babysitting from November 2018 to August 2021 while the girl was age 2 to 4.
According to a complaint filed in Floyd County District Court in January, the girl described the incidents to a forensic interviewer in Minnesota.
A warrant was issued for Nibaur’s arrest on Jan. 23, and he was arrested last Wednesday, March 1, and taken into custody under a $25,000 cash bond. The bond was paid and Nibaur was released on Thursday.
On Friday the court approved a motion by the Floyd County Attorney’s Office to appoint a guardian ad litem, which is an attorney appointed to look out for the interests of a minor child involved in a court proceeding. The court appointed attorney Jamie Schroeder of Waterloo.
