The Charles City Arts Center is getting ready to reopen after a month closed to the public.
The Arts Center uses January to plan out its year, utilizing the extra time to clean, rearrange and perform building maintenance.
“I’m catching up on a lot of administrative stuff,” said Director Emily Kiewel.
The downtime is also used to schedule new exhibits. The 2024 line-up is nearly set, featuring a new selection of monthly artistic showcases.
Kiewel says they are also preparing for fundraiser events like the annual Global Café, along with expanding the selection of art classes for both kids and adults.
The first new exhibit of the year, featuring oil paintings, acrylics and wax pieces, will be shown in February, with a reception party set for Friday, Feb. 2.
