Soil health and planter set-up seminar planned at Floyd County fairgrounds

A soil health and planter setup seminar will be held next week at the Floyd County Fairgrounds.

The event, including a free lunch, will be Thursday, March 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., and will feature Paul Jasa, Extension engineer from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Topics to be discussed will include cover crop agronomics, planting green, grazing cover crops, cover crop seeding methods, planter setup and modifications for no-till, and precision planting.

The event is sponsored by the Floyd, Chickasaw, Howard and Mitchell county soul and water conservation districts, the Floyd and Howard county Farm Bureau, the Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Iowa Soybean Association, and the Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT).
