Charles City school offering free lunches to children this summer

The Charles City Community School District announced that it is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and without discrimination.

Meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, at Washington Elementary School, 1406 N. Grand Ave., for almost five weeks beginning Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, June 28, and will be served from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday.

Parents are encouraged to accompany their children and are welcome to eat. An adult meal will cost $4. No food is to be shared or carried out of the building, according to rules distributed by the Charles City Community School District.
