The Quarter Pounder is still on the menu in Charles City.
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the FDA released a food safety alert regarding an outbreak of E. coli, mostly in Colorado and Nebraska, potentially linked to the McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
In response, McDonald’s has pulled the sandwich from the menu from restaurants in 11 states that use a common supplier for the beef patties and slivered onions used on the sandwich, including locations in southwest Iowa.
In a statement to the Press, Soifer Family McDonald’s owner Scott Soifer said that local area restaurants are not linked to the outbreak and continue to serve the full menu.
“Our locations are not affected and do not have the same supplier for the slivered onions, fresh beef patties, buns or other ingredients as the impacted locations,” said Soifer. “All of our deliveries to our restaurants come from the McDonalds Distribution Center in Mason City and that DC does not have the same suppliers as the affected locations.”
Soifer Family McDonald’s operates 17 locations in Northeast Iowa, including the communities of Charles City, New Hampton and Waverly.
“At Soifer Family McDonald’s we take food safety and the trust our customers put in us very seriously. We are proud to be locally owned and operating restaurants that are part of a system of suppliers and other owners that also put food safety first,” said Soifer. “We are appreciative for the continued trust and support our customers give us daily with their business.”
