The Charles City Arts Council hosted its annual Monster Bash Halloween party at the Elks Lodge on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Featuring a taco bar, pizza, desserts, and drinks along with a craft table and music provided by Kenyatta Sound, there was plenty to enjoy at the costume party fundraiser.
“It was a great night. We had so much fun,” said Emily Kiewel. “It was great to see everybody dressed up in costume.”
Costumes weren’t just for show though. The best outfits at the party were picked to receive prizes, with first place going to John and Angie Ayers, who came as KISS and the Geisha.
Coming in second were Vikings Lynn Bauer and Josh Cortes, while Curtis and Gayle Opp’s Sonny and Cher took third.
“We had a great crowd,” said board member Lance Schreier, who was thankful for all of the support from community businesses that made the evening possible.
Along with the costume contest, party goers could try their luck with a variety of raffle drawings, silent auctions, door prizes and a 50/50 contest. In all, more than $2,000 worth of prizes donated by community supporters were distributed during the vent.
“Everybody was super generous,” said Kiewel. “Everybody in the community supported the arts by donating.”
Though the Halloween Bash has come and gone, the Arts Council will still be busy. Along with a new featured exhibit opening on Friday, Nov. 8, the Global Café will return to the Elks Lodge on Nov. 23 for the Global Café.
