A long-anticipated mediation report from a group discussing a proposed Floyd County commercial wind energy ordinance won’t be revealed at Tuesday morning’s Board of Supervisors meeting as had been planned.

Boyd Campbell, who was a member of the mediation group and is currently acting chair of the Board of Supervisors, said with the recent death of District 2 Supervisor Dennis Keifer and the vacancy on the board he pulled the mediation report discussion from Tuesday’s agenda.

“This decision that we’re making now will last decades and probably even generations,” he told the Press Monday about the ordinance and its impact on future wind energy projects.

“I don’t feel too comfortable about just two of us going forward when District 2 won’t have any representation. And that’s why I did this,” he said.

Campbell said he also wanted some clarification on the process of selecting Keifer’s replacement, either by appointment or special election, and that topic is on the agenda for the meeting beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, in the supervisors boardroom on the ground floor of the courthouse.
