Gerald N. Hoisington

Gerald N. Hoisington, age 91 of Elma, IA passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Colonial Manor in Elma.

A Celebration of Life/Visitation will be held for Gerald will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM on Saturday April 7th at the Sleep Inn in Charles City, IA Online condolences for Gerald’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Gerald Neal Hoisington was born on May 17, 1926 to Neal and Gladys (Waid) Hoisington in Charles City, IA.  He attended and graduated from Floyd High School.  After graduating, Gerald served in the US Army in 1946 and 47 then went on to attend the University of Iowa followed by a career with the Federal Government in Washington, DC.  On May 21, 1966, Gerald was united in marriage to Theresa Kaiser in Detroit, MI.  To this union one daughter, Ann Marie, was born.  Gerald and Theresa made their home in Manassas, Virginia.  Upon retiring the couple spent time living in Charles City IA and Mary Ester FL.

Gerald enjoyed reading, playing card games, walking, fishing, bowling and going for drives through the countryside near his Virginia home.

Survivors include his daughter, Ann Marie Auth of Reston, VA; one granddaughter, Jordann Auth, also of Reston, VA; niece; Nancy (David) Kuhn of Des Moines, IA and two nephews, Larry (Shirley) Katcher of Charles City and Keith (Jeri) Katcher of Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Theresa and his sister, Demeric Katcher.
