Patricia ‘Patti’ Weiss

Patricia “Patti” Weiss, 76, of Greene, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Valley View Care Center in Greene after battling with dementia.

According to her wishes, cremation will take place and a small family remembrance of life gathering will be held at a later date.

Patricia “Patti” Ann (Ellis) Weiss, the daughter of Charles “Charlie” and Olive (Kubicek) Ellis, was born April 2, 1943 in Charles City, Iowa. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1961 and on Oct. 28, 1961 was wed to Leonard “Larry” J. Weiss. This union was blessed with two children.

Patti was a horse lover starting with her first horse, a buckskin named Lady, going through to the last one in the family, a palomino named Flash. She also loved all the dogs and cats the family had over the years. Patti enjoyed puttering out around the acreage, and if you told her she couldn’t do something she would do it anyway, no matter how long it took just to prove you wrong. Patti was an avid reader as well.

In her work life, Patti worked at Buy Low North, Martzen’s gas station and at Dr. Mayfield Laboratories for a time. Her most important job in life though was as a stay at home mom for part of her life.

Patti is survived by her husband of 78 years, Leonard “Larry” J. Weiss; two daughters: Lisa and Lori Weiss all of Greene; sister, Bonnie Miller of Seattle, Washington; sister, Karen Ellis of Charles City; sister-in-law, Peggy (Ray) Zeien of Dysart; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Lyle) Hagen of Cedar Falls; sister-in-law, Linda (Bob) Lackore of Urbandale; brother-in-law, Mike (Pat) Weiss of Manchester; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles “Charlie” Ellis and Olive (Kubicek) Ellis; and by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Clair Weiss and Lois (Jorges) Weiss.
